Love often
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy memorial day! Had some difficult calls at work this week. In an instant lives change. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Enjoy your families. Love easy. Make things fun. You never know when it will come to a screeching end. I've been missing my mom and dad this holiday alot for some reason. Both died in the early ninetes. I guess it doesn't matter how long someone you love is gone. Love never dies.

Life
Life is unexplainable sometimes. Twisters are careening across our country and people are killed, trapped, missing. Yet the rest of us not involved are watching Dancing with the Stars and American Idol. It makes me ponder the human condition. I feel so bad for the people who are hurting or have suffered a loss. I want to go down there and help, yet life keeps me here in Jersey. Working to pay my bills and keep my dogs happy and fed. I don't know .... I guess I feel like our lives are really a facade and worrying about bills, how people see us, buying lots of stuff is so stupid. In the end it will be what I contributed to help others both people and animals. In the end it will be who I loved and who loved me back. I am looking forward to this coming year as I change my life and career path. I am so blessed. I pray for those who are hurting and scared tonight.

Viking funeral
This week I said good bye to my friend Paramedic Pete Rosenblum. Pete was one of the original paramedics at Wayne General Hospital. I loved going to work then and it has never been the same since Wayne General was taken over by another hospital. We had the most amazing group of people in our paramedic family. Back then and even still today we were all know as the Black Sheep because our medic unit beat to its own drum. I loved working there and with all the fantastic paramedics. To this day we are still friends and Pete is the first Black Sheep to enter heaven. I'm so thankful I got to see him at the last Black Sheep night out in march. He look so fantastic and was really scared about having bypass surgery. Never would I dream he won't recover. Once again the Black Sheep came out in force, this time to bid farewell to one of our own. I was feeling so down this week and then was given the gift of remembering what wonderful old friends I have. When I walked up to the funeral home they were all standing outside. Not for an instant did I feel unwelcome or like an outsider. No I felt like I was home, among family. Our family has one less member, but he won't be forgotten. We are going to hold a Viking Funeral for Pete and celebrate his life! We will miss you Pete. I know you are up the on ALS 12 responding to cloud nine. RIP my friend.. you have done well.

I forgot what it is like to have a puppy in the house :)
Wow the energy is amazing! My foster greyhound Tanny is keeping me on my toes. I feel like I am following a two year old around who is constantly into mischief. Yesterday I went out for a short time and when I came home she was leaping 5 feet in the air and full of joy. I wish I could learn to live in this same kind of care free joy. As we all get older our joy seems to go down with our age. I'm not sure if it is all the responsibilities we face as a grown up or the hurts and betrayals that stamp out our joy. I know I struggle daily to not be negative and fearful. I find it hard though because so much is going on in the world that is down right frightening. I am very excited about starting my training certification as a life and business coach. It can't start soon enough and July seems so long off. I know it will change me as person and in turn I hope to help other live the life they dream of. To live a life as joyful as a 21month old rescued racing greyhound named Tan. Whoever gets this little girl will be lucky. Please contact NJGAP on their website to get an application if you would like to adopt Mz. Tanny.

Tanny my foster greyhound.
I have to say whoever adopts this happy little girl is going to be a lucky person! She is so sweet, happy, playful, joyful, and has learned to go outside all by herself. To think that so many of these innocent dogs are killed in horrible ways is very heart breaking. If you have room in your heart and home a greyhound makes a marvelous pet. They don't really bark and are couch potatoes until you want to go. You do have to be careful and make sure your greyhound is good with small animals (cats especially)
Right now living with 4 greyhounds is an adventure. I took all four for a walk yesterday and they were so good and well behaved.
Contact NJGAP if you would like to become a foster family or adopt!

Good morning everyone!
My foster dog is making great progress. She slept through the night and when I got up for work she looked at me like yeah really. She is such a sweet girl and it is fun seeing life through the eyes of someone who sees everything as new, interesting, exciting, intimidating.
I hear that it is getting harder to place fosters due to the economy. Some of the foster parents still have fosters from several months ago. I am praying Miss Tanny or Mz Thing as I like to call her finds her forever family soon. She is such a sweet heart and I don't want her to get too bonded with me and my girls and then have to leave.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful and blessed day. If you are interested in fostering or adopting a greyhound please contact New Jersey Greyhound Adoption Program or check out their website.

My very first car.
Today I took my 1979 Firebird Formula to the garage for some fine tuning. The owner drove me home and then left to take the car back to the shop. I left in my other car and followed a few cars behind the Formula. As I watched my beautiful car drive down the road I was transported back in time. We've had so many adventures together. She's seen me through broken hearts, some not so nice boyfriends and some really great ones, death of both of my parents, marriage, divorce, miscarriages, death of my beloved yellow lab, betrayal by Hawthorne Gospel church I was raised in who chose fighting to get my inheritance over my soul, road rallies, road trips, paramedic school, the advent of first pagers and then cell phones. Yet as look out and see her in my driveway she is the one constant that remains in my ever changing life. She may be over 30, but to me she is the most beautiful girl in the world.
Does anyone else have something that has seen them through so many phases and time good and bad?
Have a great night everyone.
PS. Miss Tan is coming out of her shell and enjoyed her walk today with my black greyhound Kelsey. She is going to make someone a wonderful fur-daughter.

I slept through the night!
My foster dog Tan was an angel last night. Usually when I get a foster dog the first couple nights are filled with crying and being all out of sorts. She was quiet all night long. This morning I woke up early to let her out and of course she has the Hersey squirts. I gave her her food with the medication for worming and the squirts and miss thing is just picking at it. Now that's a first. Usually the fosters gulp down all the food they can in seconds. Right now she is out of her crate an lying by my other greyhounds enjoying her first taste of actual freedom. Freedom from being raced like a machine to fill the human's need for money. I pray for all the greyhounds as they are looking to shut down tracks. I pray the trainers and owners do the right thing and let rescue groups come in and get them.
I'll get off my soap box for today :) I hope everyone has a fantastic day. I'm going to listen to a life coach training call and then take my 1979 Firebird Formula to the shop for some tweaking with the timing. Have a great day!

My foster greyhound has arrived!
I've foster several greyhounds in the past few years for a group called New Jersey Greyhound Adoption Program. I decided to foster after my fur-son a yellow lab passed away. I vowed I would never get another dog I was so devastated. I'd always wanted to help with animal rescue so I contacted the group and got my first foster greyhound named Honkey Tonk. You can imagine how that sounded being called out in the neighborhood. Much to my surprise I fell in love with the greyhound breed. I learned that thousands are killed every year after they have raced their hearts out for humans. Some face a worse fate in being sold to a lab for experimentation. These dogs are so sweet and loving I can't imagine them suffering.
Today I picked up my 10th or 11th foster and her name is Tan. She is a sweet petite girl and as usual she fit right in with my three adopted greyhounds. They always welcome fosters and show them the ropes. I took Tan out for a walk today and it brought me back to how each of my fosters arrived. Walking with new eyes to every sight and sound. Unsure and yet brave to keep walking. It helped to have the leader of the pack Kit Kat along. Tan pretty much melted into my leg as I walked and then at times ventured out with Kit Kat. Tan will be available for adoption in a few weeks. If you are interested in Tan or would like to become a foster parent please contact NJGAP.

My first blog
Hi everyone! I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful day. Are you living the life you dreamed of? I know I wasn't for a very long time. Then some things happened to me that made me wake up and realize I had to stop living in fear and go for it!
I went to Anthony Robbin's Unleash The Power four day event and it has changed my life! NO longer will I settle for a boring, unfulfilled life. I still live with fear, but I"m learning to let go of what if's and should I's. Heck yeah you should! I've started my own business, enrolled in iPEC life coach training and I have my new web store at http://www.ljkendall.com I'm learning as I go and for the first time in years I am excited and filled with passion. How about you? Are you living your dream and going for it? Or are you living someone else's dream?
